A frame school was constructed on SW 26-23-24 WPM in 1927 and 1928 by the early pioneers at a cost of $3.00. It opened on March 1, 1928 with Mr. H. Dietrick as teacher. A total of 155, Grades 1-8 and several correspondence pupils were enrolled, with 29 teachers as instructors. The school was closed in 1966 due to declining enrollment and by amalgamation within the Intermountain School Division. Land for the cairn was donated by Sydney and Jacolyne Yurkiw. The cairn was dedicated on July 30, 1994 to the pupils, teachers and residents.
