Tourism & Recreation Morranville School Legal Description: SW 11-26-24 Inscription: Located on SW 11-26-24 this school was built in 1898 by Pioneers to serve the needs of their children. Built from logs cut and hauled by volunteers. It measured 20ft by 30ft. As well as education, the school provided a place for dances, school concerts, meetings and picnics. The name Morranville was chosen because the majority of the pioneers of the district has the surname. "Morran" As the area became more settled, the old school closed in 1920 and two districts were formed, with the new Morranville school 1 mile south and Wicklow 2.5 miles North. The old school is now a museum on NW 13-26-24. We dedicate this cairn to the pioneers, trustees, teachers and students who built, served and used the old Morranville School. August 3, 1995.
